Is it silly season already?
Right at the start of this, I'm going to say the same thing I say every year. Between now and the draft, you'll hear reports of the Jets being extremely fond of, interested in, intrigued by a lot of prospects. You'll hear those reports coming from sources close to the team, close to the player, involved in football in some capacity. So take everything with a pinch of salt.
This is coming from a source willing to talk to Manish, so take it with an even greater pinch of salt:
"They got their eyes set on the North Carolina quarterback," one rival scout told the Daily News. "The Jets are all over this kid. All over him. They'll probably deny it if you ask, but they love that kid. That's their guy. They're not going to get him though, because I think that kid is going to get over-drafted."
I really like Mitch Trubisky, in fact I'm currently doing game-tape study on him and the more I watch, the more I like. I could see the Browns taking him number 1 overall. But hey, if the Jets think he's a franchise guy, you have a duty to go get him.
He's got excellent touch, throws with poise and anticipation, has a good arm with a good release, has good feel in the pocket and can make plays with his legs. I mean his accuracy is extremely impressive, on short, intermediate and deep routes. He has limited experience, but he has all the tools. He doesn't throw many interceptions, but he fumbles the football a lot.
In his one full year as a starter he completed 68.9% of his passes for 28 TD's to just 4 INT's.
