2017 NFL Mock Draft: Leonard Fournette to Jets

NCAA Football: Florida at Louisiana State Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Dan Kadar of SB Nation has a new mock draft out. He projects a running back to the Jets with the sixth pick.

6. New York Jets — Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

This is another pick that’s actually staying the same. New York’s top needs are a pass rusher and offensive lineman, but Fournette is hard to ignore. If the Jets can get better at offensive tackle, Fournette is talented enough to be for the Jets what Ezekiel Elliott has been for the Cowboys.

Maybe Elliott’s success will convince teams it’s cool to take a running back high in the Draft again.

As the Jets think about their future, a top tier back who can consistently churn yardage and break a few big plays would really make things easier on offense, particularly for a young quarterback who might be starting next season.

Fournette’s ultimate stock might come down to what his medicals say during evaluation time.
