The New York Jets have placed safety Marcus Gilchrist and offensive tackle Breno Giacomini on the injured reserved list. With both Gilchrist and Giacomini having disappointed in their time with the Jets it is possible they both will be cut in the offseason to clear cap space. If so we may have seen the last of these two players in Jets uniforms.
To fill the roster spots vacated by Giacomini and Gilchrist the Jets have promoted guard Craig Watts and safety Ronald Martin from the practice squad.
Watts is a massive 25 year old 6' 3", 335 pound offensive lineman out of West Texas A&M University. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2014 by the San Diego Chargers. Martin is a 23 year old 6' 2", 220 pound strong safety out of LSU. Martin was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2015, before being waived and signed by the Jets. Martin was on the Jets 53 man roster for eight games in 2015.
