SNF: Cowboys vs Giants Game Thread

Sunday Night Football, week 13. Tonight we have the renewal of a traditional NFC East rivalry between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. The Cowboys will be traveling from the comforts of warm and cozy Arlington Texas to the frigid plains of MetLife Stadium in the New Jersey meadowlands in December. The Cowboys will be looking to avenge their only loss of the season, a 20-19 squeaker on opening day against the Giants.

This game means more to the Giants than it does to the Cowboys. The 11-1 Cowboys come into this game in first place in the NFC East needing only two more wins in their final four games to wrap up the number one seed in the NFC, a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Just win half the remaining games and the rest of the regular season games on the Cowboys' schedule are meaningless.

On the other hand the 8-4 Giants, second in the NFC East, are still fighting for their playoff lives. The Giants have a particularly difficult schedule the rest of the way, with home games against two first place teams in the Cowboys and the Detroit Lions followed by two road games against their division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins, to finish the year. The Giants currently are in the driver's seat for a wild card spot, but if they were to crumble in the face of their difficult closing schedule with three or four losses then their currently safe looking spot would be in jeopardy.

With playoff spots on the line and stars like Odell Beckham Jr., Eli Manning, Dak Prescott, Dez Bryant and Ezekiel Elliott in the game this shapes up as one of the best prime time games of the season.
