Jets Sign DT Anthony Johnson From Patriots Practice Squad

NFL: New England Patriots at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets have made a minor move today, signing defensive tackle Anthony Johnson from the New England Patriots practice squad.

Here is what our friends over at Pats Pulpit had to say

After strong spring and summer practices, the 23-year old, who is in his third NFL season after going undrafted, was able to survive final roster cuts at a crowded position. However, he failed to make an impact during the early weeks of the regular season and was waived prior to the Patriots’ week 4 game against the Buffalo Bills.

It seems as though Johnson was given a chance, but he wasn't able to capitalize on it. The Jets have placed Ryan Clady on IR (Separate article coming) which opens up a space on the 53 for Johnson.

Just to refresh your memory, as the Jets have signed Johnson from another team's practice squad, he needs to be on the 53 man roster, it wasn't possible to sign him from the Patriots squad to place directly onto ours.

I haven't seen a great deal of Johnson since he left LSU, however he'll be hoping to find a home here in New Jersey after spending time with the Dolphins, Redskins and Patriots after going undrafted in 2014.
