Jets Work Out 4 Players, Including Sammie Lee Hill

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The defensive line hasn’t quite lived up to the top billing it was given before the season started. The Jets have defended the run well, one of the best units in the league. However the combination of Wilkerson, Richardson, Williams and Steve McLendon hasn’t quite dominated to the extend expected.

With Harrison on the blue side of the city, doing what he does. The Jets are doing a little due diligence mid-season to see if they can unearth the next hidden gem.

According to Adam Caplan on Twitter, the Jets worked out three defensive tackles and one offensive tackle yesterday.

The defensive tackles the Jets brought in included Sammie Lee Hill, a 30 year old defensive tackle who serviced a 4 game suspension earlier this season as a free agent for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. He last played for the Titans in 2015.

Jordan Hill was a key back-up for the Seahawks 2014 team, posting 5.5 sacks and 1 interception on the season. Unfortunately he couldn’t replicate that performance in 2016 and was cut from the injured reserve list earlier this year.

Virgil has spent his time being signed and released by the Saints over the last year, without making any impact on the first team.

Finally the Jets worked out offensive tackle Arturo Uzdavinis, who has spent some time with the Texans and Bears after going undrafted out of Tulane in the 2016 NFL draft. No signins have been reported, with this likely being a case of the Jets adding to their portfolio of profiles.
