Ryan Fitzpatrick & Marcus Williams Injury Updates

NFL: New York Jets at Cleveland Browns Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

Just when you think that things can't get any worse for the Jets, you hear the news that CB Marcus Williams is set to miss "several weeks" due to a high ankle sprain.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick managed to avoid a serious knee injury, being diagnosed with a sprained MCL. This isn't believed to be a serious injury but it could keep him out of this week's home match-up against the LA Rams.

Despite the secondary's struggles, Marcus Williams has quietly had a solid season. PFF rates him as the 50th best CB out of 117 qualified players. He's recorded 2 interceptions, 6 passes defended and 29 total tackles. The Jets will miss Williams, but this may be a chance for someone else to step up and prove themselves.

If Fitzpatrick does miss this weekend's game, it may be a blessing in disguise for Bowles. The majority of fans want to see Petty, but the head coach has been reluctant to make the move to the former Baylor product. It seems that he may no longer have a choice.
