The 3-5 New York Jets head to South Florida to take on their arch rivals the 3-4 Miami Dolphins in a battle to avoid last place in the AFC East. A win today combined with a road loss at Seattle by the Buffalo Bills would vault the Jets from the cellar into second place in the AFC East, behind only the perennial champion New England Patriots.
Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a very rough first half last week against the Cleveland Browns as calls to replace him in the lineup again grew louder. He then came roaring back in the second half to lead an improbable Jets comeback win from double digits down on the road. Quincy Enunwa was the star of the game with several big plays, and the running game was efficient and effective.
Meanwhile the Dolphins come into today's game feeling their oats after consecutive wins against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills in which breakout star running back Jay Ajayi became just the third running back in NFL history to run for 200+ yards in back to back games.
How will Ajayi fare against the Jets #1 rushing defense? How will the Jets offense fare against the Dolphins mediocre defense? We'll soon find out, as the Jets and the Dolphins both seek to extend modest two game wining streaks.
