The New York Jets have announced they have released offensive tackle Zach Sterup from their practice squad.
Sterup, a 6' 9", 318 pound undrafted free agent tackle out of the University of Nebraska, was originally invited to try out by the Kansas City Chiefs at their May 2016 minicamp. The Chiefs went on to sign Sterup to a three year contract before waiving him during preseason cuts. The Chiefs signed Sterup to their practice squad, then released him, and the Jets then signed Sterup to their practice squad three weeks ago before releasing him on November 29th.
No corresponding practice squad signing has been announced, meaning the Jets currently have one practice squad opening, in case any of you need a job.
Sterup's Jets career will mostly be remembered for ... errr ... well there was that time when ... also he was really good at ... well, he was tall. He was really tall.
