Todd Bowles may be reluctant to plan for the future, but we’re not. With the season spiralling downward, I‘m going to be focusing in on 2017 and how the Jets can fight their way back to relevancy.

As things stand, the Jets hold the 5th overall selection in the 2017 NFL draft. We may pick up the odd win against the 49’ers or the Dolphins, but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see us picking in the top 5 when draft time rolls around.

The 2017 NFL draft is going to be an interesting one for the Jets. Not only will we have a high selection, but we also have a ton of holes we’ll need to fill. So the options will be extensive.

Do we go with an all-around defensive talent like Jabrill Peppers? Or take a chance on a dominant runner like Fournette or Cook? Do you start in the trenches by bolstering the offensive line with someone like Cam Robinson? Or maybe you fall in love with a QB like Mitch Trubisky, who many people now consider to be the elite QB prospect in the class and a candidate to go #1 overall.

The Jets have so many areas of weakness, you can justify drafting just about every position outside of defensive line. So don’t be surprised to see the Jets select Jonathan Allen when he surprisingly falls to them.
