The New York Jets have claimed running back Knile Davis off of waivers. Davis was waived by the Green Bay Packers, just a couple of weeks after the Packers traded with the Kansas City Chiefs to obtain his services.
Knile Davis is a 6' 0" 227 pound running back with 4.4 speed. He was originally drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Davis will be a free agent after the conclusion of the 2016 season.
Knile Davis has a less than inspiring track record as a running back, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry on 238 career carries. His primary value has been as a kick returner, where he has returned 108 kicks for a 27.1 yard average with two kick return touchdowns.
It is not clear that Davis has much use as a running back for the Jets, other than as a depth piece if the top two backs are injured. He may have some value as a kick returner if the Jets are inclined to replace Jalin Marshall.
