Jets vs. Steelers Final Score: New York Falls to 1-4 After 31-13 Loss

NFL: New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets are now 1-4. The Steelers sent New York to a third straight loss by a 31-13 margin today in Pittsburgh.

The Jets were unable to hold leads of 3-0 and 13-7 in the first half. Pittsburgh scored just before halftime to take the lead, and the Jets were held off the board for the rest of the game.

The defense was bad as the pass rush generated next to no pressure on Ben Roethlisberger. The offense only put up one touchdown and was shut out in the second half. The coaching wasn’t too hot either. Todd Bowles inexplicably punted on a pair of fourth downs in the fourth quarter when his defense couldn’t get a stop. This set up the Steelers to string together a long drive to ice the game.

At 1-4, the odds of the Jets making the Playoffs are under 10%. The approach and goal of this season are going to have to change. While the team still should try to win games, some shakeups are likely in order with new younger personnel inserted into the lineup.
