Report: Jets Likely to Make QB Change Soon if Fitzpatrick Doesn’t Improve

NFL: Seattle Seahawks at New York Jets Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

Jason LaCanfora reports the Jets are going to bench quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick if his play does not get better soon.

Fitzpatrick received the vast majority of reps in practice, but sources said that is likely to change soon if he cannot reverse his recent trend of turnovers.

Jets coaches have become increasingly frustrated with Fitzpatrick's play after he missed all of the spring offseason work mired in an ugly contract stalemate. Through their review of tape, they believe the team has played generally well enough to win three of their four games, but the Jets have only one win due primarily to the performance of the quarterback.

I’m not sure how notable this is. It wouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Fitzpatrick is playing his way onto the bench. The only real question might be how willing the coaching staff would be to make an in-game change against Pittsburgh.
