NFL Power Rankings: Jets Win Doesn't Count For Much

Despite dominating the Ravens in Week 7 the Jets did not see much improvement in their dismal power rankings.

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Week 7 of the NFL season saw the New York Jets finally show up on defense, riding a complete second half domination of the Baltimore Ravens to a fairly comfortable 24-16 victory.  The defense dominated, the offense didn't completely stink, and the Power Rankings powers that be emitted a collective yawn. Somehow ESPN moved the Jets DOWN three spots.  Maybe ESPN is more impressed with Geno than we knew?

Here are this week's power rankings:

Been hollering, screaming, whining and everything in between for the Jets to start using Matt Forte more effectively, like they managed to do the first couple of weeks of the season. Finally, the dude received a heavy workload, even in a tough matchup against the Ravens, and rewarded his coaching staff for its commitment. Forte piled up 154 yards from scrimmage after posting 125 in the previous three games combined. Is it fun or weird that Ryan Fitzpatrick, the guy many point to as having ruined the season, might've saved it Sunday? Neither. Fitzmagic got the Jets to 2-5, though. #getexcited

Ryan Fitzpatrick came back in and got them a victory. But they still aren't very good.

ESPN 28 (down from 25 last week)

Since QB Geno Smith is done for the season, the Jets will have no choice but to believe in the Fitz-magic again. It shouldn't take much magic, no matter who starts, to beat the 0-7 Browns this week.
