The New York Jets have placed inside linebacker Erin Henderson on the Reserve/ Non-football injury/illness list. This list is for issues unrelated to football but has the same effect as the injured reserve list. As a result , Henderson's 2016 season is likely finished. The nature of Henderson's condition has not been disclosed by the Jets. Henderson was something of a disappointment in 2016 after a nice comeback year in 2015. With only one year remaining on his contract in 2017, and all of the $2.75 million in compensation on his deal for 2017 not guaranteed, the 30 year old Henderson may be a prime candidate for a salary cap casualty next year.
The surprise move by the Jets with respect to Henderson, combined with Darron Lee's absence due to an ankle injury and David Harris' balky hamstring has left the Jets dangerously short at inside linebacker.
In another roster move the Jets have placed tight end Braedon Bowman on the injured reserve list with a torn ACL.
To replace Henderson and Bowden on the 53 man roster the Jets have promoted inside linebacker Julian Stanford and outside linebacker Victor Ochi from the practice squad.
