The league's most played rivalry comes back for another iteration tonight, but unusually the NFC North isn't at stake. The Packers (3-2) are two games back of the impressive and still perfect Minnesota Vikings; the Bears (1-5) are in last place and likely to stay there.
Also unfamiliar relative to recent matchups, Aaron Rodgers isn't the form quarterback heading into the clash. That honour goes to Brian Hoyer who has thrown for 4 straight 300 yard games, 6 touchdowns on the year, no interceptions, 1396 yards and a 68.8% percentage. While the Jets may have had the journeyman quarterback of the year last season in Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Bears seem to have found the secret sauce this year. Unfortunately for the Bears, without the Jet supporting cast and defence, this surprising quality QB play hasn't translated to wins.
Meanwhile Rodgers and the Packer offense have struggled by their typical superlative standard. Top rusher Eddie Lacy is on injured reserve with an ankle injury. If Green Bay is going to keep itself in the playoff hunt, and apply any pressure on the Vikings, they will need a strong performance tonight against a struggling team and an injured Bears defence.
