Jets head coach Todd Bowles named Ryan Fitzpatrick his starting quarterback for next week. He also seemed to absolve Fitzpatrick for blame for what happened in the loss to the Cardinals.
I can appreciate not wanting to throw a guy under the bus in public to some extent, but there also isn't anything wrong with saying, "Everybody needs to play better, including Ryan." We are reaching Rex Ryan levels of trying to claim poor quarterback play isn't really poor quarterback play. I also am not under any impression that Geno Smith can turn this around. I don't understand what is accomplished by sticking with Fitzpatrick.
Here is what was said.

Bowles: "It definitely wasn't Fitz's fault. He barely had any time to throw."

Why even put Geno in?
