NFL Playoff Picture: Jets in 13th Place in AFC Standings

NFL: New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Do you wonder why the odds are so stacked against a 1-4 team rallying to make the Playoffs. You can see why when you look at the Jets’ place in the AFC standings. New York currently rates 13th out of the 16 teams in the conference. The Jets are a full two games back of the sixth and final Playoff spot and need to pass seven teams to get there. It is quite a hill for this team to try and climb. Having a 1-3 conference record certainly does not help things. Nor does losing a potential head-to-head tiebreaker against so many conference opponents so early in the season.

Here are the current AFC standings following the games in Week 5 of the 2016 NFL regular season.

  1. Pittsburgh 4-1
  2. Oakland 4-1
  3. New England 4-1
  4. Houston 3-2
  5. Denver 4-1
  6. Baltimore 3-2
  7. Buffalo 3-2
  8. Kansas City 2-2
  9. Cincinnati 2-3
  10. Tennessee 2-3
  11. Indianapolis 2-3
  12. Jacksonville 1-3
  13. Jets 1-4
  14. San Diego 1-4
  15. Miami 1-4
  16. Cleveland 0-5
