Former Jets center Kevin Mawae was not among the fifteen finalists for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He had been a semifinalist.

Mawae played for the Jets from 1998 through 2005. He made six Pro Bowls in those eight seasons. He was also an All Pro in six of them and a member of the NFL's All Decade Team in both the 1990's and the 2000's. Mawae had a four year stint with Seattle before coming to the Jets and a four year stint with Tennessee after leaving the team.

Among the finalists, there were three players who spent time with the Jets, although none will be remembered as Jets. Steve Atwater spent 1999 with the Jets after a long career in Denver. Brett Favre was with the Jets in 2008 after a short stint with the Falcons and a legendary run with the Packers. He then spent two years with the Vikings. Alan Faneca was with the Jets in 2008 and 2009. He is best remembered as a Steeler. Faneca played a season with the Cardinals after leaving the Jets.

Final voting will take place the day before the Super Bowl.
