AFC Playoff Picture: Steelers Clinch Last AFC Wild Card; Jets Miss Playoffs for Fifth Straight Season

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

The final Playoff spot in the NFL has been clinched. Unfortunately for the Jets, it was the Pittsburgh Steelers who clinched it. Pittsburgh's 28-22 win over the Browns today coupled with Buffalo's 22-17 triumph over the Jets knocked Gang Green out of the Playoffs despite a 10-6 record.

The Jets still have not made the postseason since 2010. They did improve their win total by six games. Unfortunately given the way the NFL works, two teams with worse records will be in the Playoffs, but those are the rules. Those teams earned those spots fair and square, and the Jets did not come through when they had a chance in front of them.

The late afternoon games will determine the final seeding, but here are the standings as of now. The six postseason teams are set.

1. New England 12-4

2. Cincinnati 12-4

3. Denver 11-4

4. Houston 9-7

5. Kansas City 10-5

6. Pittsburgh 10-6
