It is mock draft season so let's take a look at the players the experts (along with various random dudes on the internet) see the Jets taking with the 20th pick.
Below there is a chart with some of the major (and not so major) prognosticators weighing in.
Among the popular players mocked to the Jets are Taylor Decker and Leonard Floyd. Four mocks have them coming to New York. Ezekiel Elliott and Jaylon Smith are also popular choices with three mocks a piece sending them to Gang Green.
Interestingly, there does not seem to be a lot of belief the Jets are going to be taking their quarterback of the future in the first round. Only Rob Rang of CBS has the Jets taking a quarterback with the 20th pick, Paxton Lynch of Memphis. The Jets are presumably very much in the market for a young quarterback. The lack of quarterbacks mocked to them might have something to do with their position drafting. It seems at this point that there are three consensus first round picks, Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, and Lynch. It is certainly plausible that none of them will make it to 20, requiring the Jets to move up if they want one of the signal callers.
