Even though the New York Jets missed the playoffs, today Mike Maccagnan was honored by the Pro Football Writers Association by being named the 2015 Executive of the Year.

Maccagnan won the award for turning around the Jets from 4-12 to 10-6 and coming a game short of making the postseason. He was praised for his free agency moves including the signing of Darrelle Revis, James Carpenter, Marcus Gilchrist and the trades for Brandon Marshall and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

His first round selection of Leonard Williams also earned him some praise as well as the 3rd round selection of Lorenzo Mauldin.

In addition, the Jets had their first 5 game win streak since 2010, a defense that ranked 2nd in run defense and a top 10 offense.

He is the first Jets executive to ever win the award since it's inception in 1993. Last year's recipient was Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys. Previous winners include Bill Polian and Bill Parcells.
