New York Jets: The Linebacker Problem

The Jets are going to have to devote considerable resources to the position.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

One of the biggest issues for the New York Jets going into this offseason are the linebackers. This year, Gang Green had the following inside linebackers on their roster:

  • Demario Davis
  • David Harris
  • Erin Henderson
  • Jamari Lattimore
  • Taiwan Jones

Here are their outside linebackers:

  • Calvin Pace
  • Lorenzo Mauldin
  • Trevor Reilly
  • Josh Martin

That's a bleak group, and it doesn't get much better when you consider that Davis is likely leaving without a contract, Harris turns 32 in a few days, and Henderson/Lattimore/Jones are part-time players. Pace is 35 and his contract is up and Mauldin/Reilly were rookies last year.

Obviously, the Jets are going to have to devote considerable resources to the position. Right now, they'd go into next season starting Harris, Henderson, Mauldin, and Reilly. I would love for them to be able to add someone like Myles Jack, but there's no guarantee he'll still be around in the draft. Who would you like for the team to target to try and bolster the linebacking corps?
