Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan is scheduled to speak with the media today at 1:00 p.m. Eastern at team headquarters in Florham Park to wrap up the season.
Do not expect any major news to come out of this. There will probably be a lot of noncommittal comments. "Muhammad Wilkerson/ Ryan Fitzpatrick is a priority." "We'd love to keep (insert free agent's name). It is a question of whether we can find a deal that makes sense for both sides." "We think Geno Smith/Dee Milliner has potential." "We will be open to all opportunities to upgrade our roster."
No general manager is ever going to tip his hand at an event like this. Macagnan does have some interesting and informative press conferences, though. Every now and then he will offer insight on his philosophy for the process of building a team, such as frequently drafting outside linebackers in the scheme the Jets run or the necessity of drafting and developing guards in the middle rounds. Maybe another gem like that will shine through.
