A day after cutting Chris Owusu, the Jets brought him back. The team had a roster spot open from placing Dee Milliner on short term IR.
Jets are signing WR Chris Owusu back to the 53 man roster, I'm told

Smart move by the Jets to bring back Chris Owusu. Versatile option at WR and returner. Needs to stay healthy. #nyj

The Jets could not place Milliner on IR until today so they had to cut somebody yesterday and hope that player was not claimed on waivers. Owusu was that player.
It stands to reason he will get a chance as a kickoff return man. There was not anybody on the roster with credentials to handle that job.
I am not sure why the Jets were more inclined to leave Owusu exposed more than their tenth offensive lineman, but the result ended up the same.
