Stevan Ridley to Begin Season on PUP List

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Jets running back Stevan Ridley will begin the regular season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

This will require Ridley to miss the first six regular season games. At that point, the Jets will have a five week window for him to begin practicing. Once he begins practice, the team has an additional 21 day window to add him to the active 53 man roster. Got all that?

Ridley is coming off a torn ACL and MCL. The longer camp and the preseason dragged on without him appearing, the more it looked like he was starting the season on the PUP list. Any temptation to rush him back was tempered by the strong preseasons Chris Ivory and Zac Stacy had. Ridley can come back on his own schedule and get fully healthy.
