Fitzpatrick Is Our Starter, Even When Geno Returns

In a move that will surprise nobody, the Jets have committed their immediate future to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

it won't come as a surprise to hear Todd Bowles confirm that the Jets are going to ride with Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starter for the foreseeable future. Fitzpatrick has guided the Jets to a 2-0 start with victories over the Cleveland Browns and the Indianapolis Colts. He's done so by completing 62.5% of his passes with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The numbers aren't eye catching, but his ability to move the football down-field when needed is. There is obvious chemistry between him and his receivers and when you're 2-0, everything is right with the World.

However we do have our former starter Geno Smith returning from injury soon, but he won't be slotting back into the starter role anytime soon. When asked about Ryan remaining the starter, Bowles was quite clear:

Ryan is our starting quarterback right now. We're doing well, we have good chemistry going and everything else and Geno understands that and as we go, Ryan is our quarterback. We'll go forward from there.

It won't be a case of Geno splitting first team reps with Ryan either. The starting Quarterback should get 100% of the reps, and that's exactly what will happen going forward with Bowles confirming that too. The Jets are rolling and Ryan Fitzpatrick is at the helm, Geno Smith will have to watch from the sidelines, as he should.
