I know Antonio Allen had his detractors, but you don't wish this on anyone. Allen's 2015 season is over before it even had chance to begin with the news he has torn his Achilles. The Jets waived Allen who will be put on the team's IR as soon as he clears Waivers.
Allen has been with the team since 2012 and has performed in several different roles. He has at times looked outclassed, but he has also been very solid in large portions. Here is hoping he makes a full recovery.
In a corresponding news, the Jets have signed defensive back Keon Lyn.
Lyn is a cornerback who played his football at Syracuse. Unfortunately for Lyn he missed the last 8 games of his senior season with a fractured left kneecap. He played in 38 games at Syracuse recording 3 interceptions. After going undrafted he was signed by the Colts, only to be released later in the Summer. He had signed with Winnipeg of the Canadian Football League earlier this Spring.
Lyn will have a hard time making the roster as a cornerback with the depth at the position, but the Jets needed to make a move with pre-season games fast approaching.
