Jarrod West's time in Jets camp was quick. Signed on Sunday, the team waived the rookie from Syracuse this evening and signed wide receiver Arthur Williams.
Like West, Williams was invited to rookie minicamp back in May. He played his college ball at the University of Maine. The Jets have had a few Maine alums on their roster in recent years. Some were success stories (Mike Devito). Others were less successful (Matthew Mulligan).
The other day when West was signed I wondered whether this signaled a philosophical shift within the organization. After quickly releasing J.C. Copeland, were the Jets going to start constantly turning over the bottom of their roster? The general idea is to get a look at as many different developmental prospects as possible to see which ones are worth having. This is more circumstantial evidence Maccagnan might be taking this approach.
