Today Jets head coach Todd Bowles indicated some of his starters might get work Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bowles on PT for starters on Thursday: "I'm leaning toward some [playing]." Ryan Fitzpatrick will NOT play.

This is not necessarily huge news. The third preseason game is where the starters usually get their work. Players of importance in the preseason finale typically get one series at most.
Muhammad Wilkerson, who missed much of training camp, sounds like one of the players who could see action.
#nyj Mo Wilkerson told me that he is expecting to play on Thursday night in the preaseason finale. #jets

The fourth game is about the backups, though. The starters get light workloads because this is the last time they will get extended rest outside of the bye. The coaching staff also needs to get as close of a look as possible at the players competing for the final roster spots.
Bowles said he has somewhere around 40 or so players slotted into the 53-man roster. #jets #nyj
