Jets defensive lineman Leonard Williams declared today he will be ready for the team's first game of the regular season a week from Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Williams said he was really concerned when he first felt pain in his knee because he never had lower-body injury before. Relieved after MRI— Dennis Waszak Jr. (@DWAZ73) August 31, 2015
This would certainly be good news for the Jets. Any original plans the Jets might have had to bring Williams along slowly were presumably altered by Sheldon Richardson's four game suspension. The rookie now figures to start and play a significant number of snaps early in the season. The Jets are hoping he plays so well that it becomes impossible to take him out of the lineup.
