Jets Waive J.C. Copeland

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Jets announced this evening they have waived fullback J.C. Copeland.

Copeland was a first year fullback out of LSU. He weighed 271 pounds and saw preseason action with Dallas a year ago.

Copeland was expected to compete with Tommy Bohanon for the fullback spot on the roster. It was a contrast of styles. While Bohanon's game is to be involved in the passing game, Copeland profiled as more of a traditional lead blocker type.

Connor Hughes notes Copeland's performance in practice was less than spectacular. Perhaps this was a performance-based move.

I am sure we will get plenty of speculation about what addition the Jets will make to replace Copleland. We will just have to wait and see.
