The Jets suffered their first significant injury at training camp yesterday. Second round pick Devin Smith broke his ribs.
WR Devin Smith suffered broken ribs. He will miss the majority of camp and is being held in the hospital overnight as a precaution.

Smith was injured on what sounds like a terrific play.
Devin Smith with a crowdpleasing leaping grab off a deflection by Marcus Williams on a Geno longball. Devin shaken up but then walks off.

Smith was not necessarily slated for a big role on the team, but this is still a tough blow. It would have been nice to get him extensive practice work to help his development. Hopefully he can get better and ask least receive preseason game reps. It would be nice if Smith made a major impact as a rookie, but I view this season as more about development.
