Report: Wilkerson Will Attend Minicamp

Bart Hubbuch and Steve Serby report Muhammad Wilkerson will attend next week's mandatory minicamp. He had been skipping voluntary OTA's as he seeks a new contract from the team.

Muhammad Wilkerson plans on showing up for next week’s mandatory Jets minicamp, a person familiar with the defensive end’s thinking told The Post on Wednesday night.

It is nice that Wilkerson is not prepared to escalate things at this point in his search for a new contract. I'm not sure this means a whole lot right now. I also I doubted him missing OTA's or posting a tweet this week had any major meaning. Wilkerson and the Jets need to work out a long-term deal. It is the offseason. There is not a lot going on so everybody is looking for an angle to make a big deal out of contract posturing. The sooner an extension is reached, the better so everybody can focus on the season.
