Amaro Suffers Back Injury; Jets OTA Injury Update

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

There was some injury news coming out of OTA's today.

Tight end Jace Amaro sustained a back injury.

We are a long way from the start of training camp so an injury like this isn't much cause for concern. In a year Amaro is looking to make a jump, the offseason reps would be nice, but this does not seem like a big deal.

It looks like Brian Winters madea  big step on his way to recovery.

Winters could be anywhere from starting to not making the final roster. Either way, it is good to hear he is out there. A week ago, I guessed Oday Abouhsi and Willie Colon had a leg up based on first team reps and comments from Todd Bowles. This competition might be more open.

The news is not as good for Dee Milliner.

The Jets can afford be to cautious because of the secondary depth they added in the offseason. You might remember a year ago how the Jets felt the need to rush Milliner back from a high ankle sprain he sustained in preseason. The Jets had so little quality in the secondary that they had to get him into the lineup. This year the Jets can stay afloat until he is ready.

Finally, Ryan Fitzpatrick's recovery from a broken leg seems to be on track.
