Jets tight end Zach Sudfeld, who tore an ACL in minicamp, has cleared waivers. This allowed the Jets to place him on injured reserve.

Due to a quirk in the rules, Sudfeld needed to clear waivers to allow the Jets to place him on IR. This was a mere formality, though. The Jets went through this process so they could clear a training camp spot for a player who might make the team.
If there is some small silver lining in this injury, it is the date. Sudfeld will have over a year to heal and get himself ready for training camp in 2016.
