This will come as no surprise to any Jets fan. Likely based more on available talent than Breno's own performance, Bowles confirmed that Giacomini will be the starting right tackle for the team this year.
Breno was a little bit of a disappointment last season. He was penalized 8 times, gave up 3 sacks, 7 QB hits and 31 QB hurries, he wasn't particularly good in his run blocking either, although he wasn't a disaster by any means.
Giacomini does carry over a $5 million cap hit, and the depth at tackle is severely lacking. Brent Qvale, Ben Ijalana, James Brewer and Oday Aboushi are all listed as back-up tackles, which probably explains why Breno has nothing to worry about this season.
He's the starter, Giacomini's the starter but, like I said, we're rotating guys all over the place, so (Brent Qvale) was at guard, he was at tackle, we've got a bunch of guys moving around, but Breno's the starter.
2014 was Giacomini's first season in New York and hopefully he improves in year two. He's not a bad tackle, he's just not that good either, middle of the road is fine if the rest of the line is up to scratch. However only Nick Mangold has performed at an elite level recently. We know Ferguson has the capability to perform at that level, but he wasn't at his best last year.
I'm extremely worried about the offensive line.
