Jarvis Harrison Speaks to the Press

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Jarvis Harrison spoke to the media today after the Jets picked him in the fifth round. Here is what he had to say.

On what it was like to get the call from the Jets…

Excited.

On his shoulder injuries and surgeries…

I had my right shoulder repaired in January of 2012. Then I had my left labrum repaired in January of 2014.

On how his shoulders are doing now…

I haven’t had a problem with them since I had surgery.

On what he thinks his best position is…

Guard.

On whether he is more comfortable at left or right…

Well, I played on the left side in college, so I would say left.

On his reaction to the criticism about his work ethic…

Everybody has opinions. That stuff doesn’t get to me.

On whether he uses that criticism as motivation…

No. I don’t listen to stuff like that. It doesn’t bother me what people think.

On his hometown of Navasota, Texas…

It’s a small town where everybody knows everybody. Pretty much everybody (is) family, everybody is so close.

On how he liked growing up in Navasota…

It was wonderful.

On whether he feels as though he should have been drafted earlier based on his talent…

Possibly, yes.

On why he slipped a little bit in the draft order…

I don’t know.

On whether his experience at Texas A&M will help the Jets…

Yes sir, it helped a whole lot.

On his mother’s reaction…

I wasn’t with her, but she’s calling me right now, that’s why I’m trying to hurry up.
