After trading down twelve spots in the third round, the Jets selected Lorenzo Mauldin with the 82nd pick. Mauldin is projected to be an edge rusher in Todd Bowles' defense.
The fact Mauldin has made it to the NFL as a second day pick is an incredible story itself.
Damn, talk about overcoming stuff: Lorenzo Mauldin lived in 16 foster homes growing up, per Nolan Nawrocki's draft guide— Kimberley A. Martin (@KMart_LI) May 2, 2015
On a defense that has an incredible amount of interior line talent, Mauldin walks into what is in many ways a dream situation for an edge rusher. Defenses have to worry about Sheldon Richardson, Muhammad Wilkerson, and Leonard Williams eating them up inside. This is going to leave plenty of one on one matchups on the outside.
Welcome to the green and white, Lorenzo. Here is to many sacks of Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, and Buffalo's quarterbacks.
