Stevan Ridley Leaves Without Contract

David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Stevan Ridley was visiting the Jets this week, but Manish Mehta reports he has left without a contract.

Mehta says Ridley might yet be a Jet, however.

Ridley's best season was in 2012 when he was a 1,243 yard rusher for New England. He has a 4.3 career average per carry. Ridley is coming off a serious injury. He tore both an ACL and an MCL in an October game against Buffalo last season.

I don't have a strong feeling on Ridley. Due to the injury, he would likely be a cheap, low risk signing. If he is healthy, he is a quality power back. Signing him would not preclude the Jets from also adding a back in a Draft class that looks excellent at the position. Ridley isn't a game-changing back, and he offers little in the passing game. A pass catching back is still a need with the Jets.

I'm fine if the Jets end up with Ridley, and I'm fine if they don't. How about you?
