The first thing I'm going to say here is, don't worry! The work-outs are voluntary, and there is nothing to be concerned about. This is just an informational article to let you know what's going on at the Jets facility at the moment.
Wilkerson is working out by himself, waiting for a contract extension that will come at some point, probably after we've completed the draft process. Sheldon, Pryor and Kerley were all absent, but all have been at previous work-outs with the team.
A lot of players have responsibilities and commitments outside of football, and we must stress this is voluntary work-outs, Bowles isn't concerned, I'm not concerned and neither should you be.
In an ideal World, you want all your players there. You want them talking and bonding, improving their communication and getting to know and trust the systems they will be playing in, but that's not always possible.
Todd Bowles put it perfectly when asked about the absentees:
Yes, it's voluntary and some guys have some things to do. Its voluntary minicamp and they had some things they had to take care of.
It's voluntary so it wasn't expected or unexpected. They were here during minicamp and certain people had things to do that I understood and it is voluntary so that's fine with me.
It hasn't been conveyed to me that they would be out the entire time but it is voluntary so I can't say one way or another.
