Rich Cimini stated in his Sunday notes column today that newly signed running back Stevan Ridley should be ready for training camp.
Of all the newcomers, the most seriously injured was Ridley, who is only five months removed from major knee surgery. Nevertheless, the Jets are optimistic about his recovery. He soon will report to the offseason program to continue his rehab. Barring a setback, he should be ready to go for training camp, a source said.
Ridley tore an ACL and MCL last season in an October game against the Bills. I guess it probably is not huge news that the Jets feel good about Ridley's recovery. It would not have made much sense signing him if they were not confident the knee was healing properly.
Ridley is on a one year deal so he will need to be ready to go as soon as possible to prove himself. If the Jets draft a running back, things might become crowded in the backfield. Ridley might be in danger of getting Garayed.
