Josina Anderson reports the Jets are in the market for free agent quarterback Brian Hoyer.
Source tells me as of now "the #Texans & the #Jets r @ the forefront of [Brian Hoyer's] mind bc they give him the best opportunity to start"

Hoyer is not exactly an exciting option, but the Jets need somebody to play quarterback next year. Hoyer has shown stretches of decent play over the last two years. Unless there is a major improvement out of Geno Smith, he would have a very solid chance of winning a competition against the incumbent starter.
At the same time, I wouldn't be against Houston getting him because it would likely mean either the Texans would not re-sign Ryan Mallett or they would let Ryan Fitzpatrick go. Mallett has more upside than Hoyer, and Fitzpatrick has experience with Chan Gailey and played decent ball under him when they were together in Buffalo.
