Trevor Reilly was the Jets' seventh round pick this past season out of Utah. At 26, he was a bit old for a drafted prospect, but he won a spot on the roster.
Reilly's 60 defensive snaps were not memorable, but he did record eight tackles on special teams. Going back to my Bellore Rule for a minute, that should be enough to give him another look in 2015. I like young, inexpensive special teams contributors. Their ability to provide value to the team on special teams buys them practice field time to develop into something more.
I do not know whether Reilly will become a defensive contributor, but I am willing to find out if he keeps playing specials well.
