Brian Costello reports the Jets are bringing in free agent linebacker Spencer Paysinger for a visit.
Free-agent linebacker Spencer Paysinger, who spent four seasons with the Giants, is scheduled to visit the Jets on Tuesday, according to a source.
The battle between the Jets and Giants to add the other team's spare parts continues.
Paysinger has 140 career tackles, 1 sack, and 2 forced fumbles since he joined the NFL in 2011. He has been with the Giants his entire career.
Paysinger would be purely a depth addition for the Jets. He likely profiles as a backup inside linebacker in Todd Bowles' defense. The Jets also might be looking at Paysinger with an eye on special teams. He has been one of the Giants' top three tacklers on special teams in the last three seasons. Since backups do not see regular playing time, the ability to contribute as a special teamer is a bonus.
