The Jets needed to address the wide receiver position this off-season, in the AFC East you need firepower and we have the equivalent of a nerf pistol over the last few years. Now we have a legitimate 1/2 punch with a good complimentary slot receiver to boot.
Brandon Marshall has played 9 seasons in the NFL and in 7 of those seasons he has gone for over 1,000 yards.
My question today, will Brandon Marshall record over 1,000 receiving yards next season with the Jets?
Most people will say that it comes down to the Quarterback. At the moment the Jets have a giant question mark at the position with Geno Smith entering his 3rd year and Ryan Fitzpatrick looking to challenge him for the starting spot on the roster.
Brandon Marshall is such a player that can make the quarterback better. For example, in 2011 Marshall recorded a stat line of 81 receptions, 1214 yards and 6 touchdowns. His Quarterback that year? A combination of Chad Henne and Matt Moore with a little J.P Losman thrown in for good measure.
In 2009 he had Kyle Orton tossing him the rock and he ended up with 1,120 yards and 10 touchdowns. He will be playing opposite Eric Decker on a weekly basis, so teams won't always be able to roll coverage to his side, if they do, Decker can beat the 1-on-1 coverage on the other side.
Eric Decker had 962 yards last year with nobody playing across from him. To find the last 1,000 yard receiver for the Jets, you'll need to go all the way back to 2007 where Jerricho Cotchery recorded 1,130 yards on 82 receptions.
I want to know what you think, will Brandon Marshall go for over 1,000 yards as a Jet in 2015?
