Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan met with the press today. One nugget of information was that the team met with free agent quarterback Josh McCown.
Jets met with free agent QB Josh McCown today, Maccagnan said. #nyj

McCown was with the Bucs in 2014 and recently cut.
There isn't anything wrong with exploring all options, but I am hoping the Jets steer clear.
There are two versions of Josh McCown. You have the 2013 version. That was with the Bears when McCown was in a friendly offensive system with a top notch supporting cast. He rode an unsustainable hot streak to 66% passing and a 13-1 TD-INT rate. You also have the version that has been the rest of his career. That version is a 57% passer with a 48-58 TD-INT rate.
The current Jets quarterback situation is very bad, but I don't think it is a stretch to say McCown would offer no improvement.
