Yesterday coach Bowles confirmed that Mike Catapano had a suspected lisfranc injury that may result in a trip to injured reserve. That's exactly what happened today, as the Jets placed the defensive lineman on IR, signed safety Ronald Martin to the active squad, and signed tight end Brandon Bostick to the practice squad.
It's a shame to see Catapano land on IR, he was starting to increase his reps with the team, showing a little speed on the edge. He sacked Eli Manning on Sunday, shortly before injuring his foot. I'm sure he'll be back in the off-season, trying to win a spot on the 53.
Ronald Martin will join the active roster from the Jets practice squad, I hope that isn't a sign that Calvin Pryor's "stinger" is more serious than first thought. At the moment there is no reason to suggest that's the case.
Bostick is obviously remembered as the man who misplayed the onside kick in the NFC Championship game which allowed Seattle to take a lead, despite Green Bay tying the game with a field goal, they went on to lose the game 28-22. A lot of fans lashed out at Bostick, believing that had he caught the ball, the game would have been over. He was released shortly after this play.
He spent some time with the Vikings and Cardinals this year, before the latter cut him from the practice squad on December 1st.
