College Football Thread 12/5

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Today is the final day of college football action before the four teams in the College Football Playoff are chosen.

Oklahoma likely wrapped up one spot last week with their win over Oklahoma State, which clinched the Big XII championship. The other three spots can be claimed today.

Alabama and Florida play each other for the eighth time in the SEC Championship Game. That is quite a fact since the SEC Championship Game has only existed since 1992. An Alabama win likely clinches a Playoff spot for the Crimson Tide. Florida is playing for the conference crown and a spot in the Sugar Bowl. Their loss to Florida State last week likely eliminated them.

Clemson controls its own destiny. The Tigers are in with a win over North Carolina in the ACC Championship Game.

The Big Ten Championship Game between Michigan State and Iowa is a virtual play-in game.

Stanford plays USC in the Pac 12 Championship Game. With a win, Stanford has a shot if either Clemson or Alabama loses. North Carolina could get in if they beat Clemson. Ohio State is idle and still has an outside shot if they get help.
