Today college football presents the first three games in the New Year's Six, the six biggest bowl games.

Florida State and Houston start the action in the Peach Bowl from Atlanta. This is the first time in three years that Florida State's bowl game does not factor into the National Championship picture. Meanwhile, this is Houston's first major bowl game since a loss to Boston College in the 1985 Cotton Bowl.

The last two bowl games of the day double as semifinals in the College Football Playoff. The Orange Bowl pits top seeded and undefeated Clemson against an Oklahoma team that ended the regular season red hot.

In the night cap, second seeded Alabama meets third seed Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl. Michigan State is the defending Cotton Bowl Champion. They beat Baylor a year ago in a game that was not part of the College Football Playoff. Alabama is looking for redemption after losing last year's semifinal to Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.
